Nuremberg – in the new year 2021, we will continue to suffer from limited regulations in the matter of corona for quite some time. And long-distance travel will probably remain problematic for the foreseeable future. all the more interesting are destinations that are easy to reach by car. We tell you what to look out for.

New are the electronic toll stickers in the czech republic, which are available on the internet (https://edalnice.Cz/en/) and at various sales points; the vignettes cost 1500 czech crowns per year (56,95 euro). The stickers for slovenia (1 year: 110 euros) and austria (1 year: 92.50 euros) are more expensive. in switzerland you can get the pickerl for one year for 38,50 euro. The front-runner is hungary, where the equivalent of a good 120 euros is payable for a year.

Practically everywhere there are also toll tickets with shorter terms, for instance for ten days as well as for one or two months. Holidaymakers in spain must take care to drive more slowly. Because from mid-2021, a lower general speed limit will apply in the iberians. In one-way streets, only 30 kilometers per hour are permitted in built-up areas; on roads with several lanes, the speed limit is 50 kilometers per hour.

if there is no curb, i.e. a barrier to the pedestrian walkway, the speedometer may not show more than 20 km/h. Drivers who do not use child safety seats, or use them inappropriately, or who talk on the phone while driving will have to pay much more.

There has also been a change in france, as reported by the ADAC: from 1. November 2021 a general winter tire obligation applies in mountain regions. However, there is still no overview of the affected areas.
As for the united kingdom, negotiations are still underway on the subject of brexit. However, the following is already known: from 1. October, entry for EU citizens will probably only be possible with a passport that must also be valid for at least six months. There will probably be no visa requirement for stays of less than 90 days. In addition, automobile clubs point out that in many countries (greece, croatia, lithuania, slovakia, slovenia and turkey) it is mandatory to carry a first-aid kit.

Fire extinguishers and spare lamps included?

A warning triangle must not be missing in switzerland, sweden, norway, lithuania, poland, croatia, luxembourg, italy, greece, france, malta and turkey. High-visibility vests must be on board in norway, portugal, luxembourg, lithuania, italy, croatia and france. In greece, poland, lithuania and turkey, a fire extinguisher is also required.
The croatian authorities also insist on a spare lamp kit and, like most eastern european countries, on a spare tire or appropriate repair spray. And in france, there has to be an alcohol test in the vehicle; but if you can’t show one, you can get away without a fine – so far.

A small drop of bitterness for all those who want to travel by car: gasoline and diesel are becoming more expensive. This is due to the rising prices in national emissions trading for transport in 2021. Anyone who sells fuel has to compensate for the resulting pollution by buying certificates. And these certificates are available from next year, after which they will become more expensive every year until 2025.
For the consumer, this is expected to amount to 7.0 cents per liter for gasoline and 7.9 cents per liter for diesel. For a vehicle with a fuel consumption of seven liters per 100 kilometers and a total trip of 1,000 kilometers, this means additional costs of 4.90 euros (gasoline) or 5.53 euros (diesel) for drivers.
