Crazy car-tuning trabant with quattro, uber-golf and V12-fiat
Tuning in itself is already out of the question. Some conversions, however, shoot the bird down. For example a VW golf R32 with 1.500 hp, an SLR mclaren covered in rubies and gold, or an old trabant with a TT engine and quattro drive. We show you some of the craziest car creations.
Wider, deeper, more powerful, more extravagant: car tuning is polarizing. Because it goes away from the mainstream and does not suit all tastes. But that is why it is so popular. dressed-up cars are a great way to enjoy, discuss, argue and talk shit about them. Especially when the tuners or hobbyists exceed the limits of what is feasible (or bearable). Examples of wacky tuning are plentiful.
VW golf II in 2.5 seconds to 100 things
Markus hegna from X-parts has transformed a VW golf II into a sprint monster. Originally, the compact was powered by a 55-horsepower engine. Seven engines and 15 performance levels later, a VR6 turbo hangs in the golf, which, with all kinds of pimping paraphernalia, can reach up to 1.092 hp mobilized. It speeds to 100 in 2.5 seconds and to 200 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The test left us speechless. Yet the uber-golf only delivered 872 hp. Read more in our "AMS special sportscars&" tuning"
Asgard performance from harsefeld in lower saxony turned a VW golf R32 completely inside out a few years ago. 3.2-liter VR6: off to the scrap press. Back seat: to the recycling yard. Instead, asgard married the R32 with a 5.2-liter V10 – familiar from the lamborghini gallardo. Support was provided by CDC-tuning and siemoneit racing.
The performance extase in the pimped R32 comes in three levels: 500, 1.000 and – buckle up – 1.500 HP. with such power and its ultra-wide tyres, which extend far beyond the mudguards, the asgard-golf could probably drag a semitrailer behind it.
marriage between subaru GL4 and VW beetles
Not quite as brute, but all the more pompous: the SLR mclaren by swiss entrepreneur and designer ueli anliker. He dipped the sports car in rich red and pasted it with 600 rubies and five kilograms of gold. Net value of goods installed: over four million euros. The extravagant look of the SLR 999 red gold dream leaves its mark on everyone. With its oversized front spoiler, you could probably shovel snow – if it weren’t so sinfully expensive.
there is never a shortage of unusual ideas in the tuning scene. Fusion of a subaru GL 4 and VW beetle? Double is better. Leather on the hood? Sure thing. W12 engine in the VW fridolin small delivery van? Runs. Or a toyota camry with dragster ambitions under the sheet metal? Why not! When the US tuning company galpin auto sports can put a fighter jet on four wheels. Meant is a white ford mustang from 2010 with ejector seat, 360-degree camera, joystick, control lights and numerous monitors in the passenger compartment. It makes every airforce pilot feel at home.
Skoda yeti takes the cake for sports cars
A completely different weapon: the fiat 500 from lazzarini design with the 4.5-liter V8 from the ferrari 458 italia. To prevent the small car from being torn to shreds, the power has been scaled back a bit. From 570 to 550 hp. Even crazier: the fiat 500 by gianfranco and leonardo dini. The two Italians transplanted a 6.2-liter V12 from the Lamborghini murcielago into the small car. With its extra-wide fenders and thick flaps, the 580-hp fiat 500 looks like a doped-up athlete on wheels.
In contrast, discreet: the skoda yeti of the british companies john danby racing and "the TT store / TTS roadsport". But if you underestimate the high legged car, you are making a big mistake. With a tuned 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine from the audi TT RS and 517 hp, the skoda yeti outperforms many a sports car on the race track.
what else we have to offer: an old trabant with the 1.8-liter four-cylinder from the audi TT. A burned down and resurrected BMW 5 Series E28 or a golden rocket. And much more. in our picture gallery we show you various crazy tuning cars from the present and the past.
