Notes on battery disposal
The scope of delivery of many devices includes batteries or accumulators, which are necessary for operation. In connection with the sale of these batteries or accumulators, we as distributors are required by the battery law (battg) to inform our customers of the following: used batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. Consumers are required by law to take batteries to a suitable collection point. You can return batteries and accumulators free of charge here:

- Where batteries and accumulators are sold
- By mail to our shipping warehouse:
Used batteries contain valuable raw materials that can be recycled. batteries and accumulators are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out garbage can.
the waste garbage can means: batteries and accumulators must not be not in household waste. The signs under the trash cans stand for: pb for lead; cd for cadmium; hg for mercury. These chemical symbols indicate that a certain limit quantity of the specified chemical substances in this type of battery has been exceeded:
- HG: more than 0,0005 weight percent mercury
- Cd: more than 0,002 weight percent cadmium
- Pb: more than 0.004 weight percent lead.

Special information on the sale of vehicle batteries
The German battery law stipulates that a deposit of €7.50 incl. VAT must be paid on the sale of used vehicle batteries to end consumers. sales tax before. This applies unless a used old battery is returned in the same purchase transaction.
The deposit is not included in the purchase price and will be listed and charged separately.
The take-back of old vehicle batteries must be free of charge for the end consumer. If a new purchase is not made at the same time, the deposit amount will be refunded.
OBI takes back and refunds deposits only in OBI stores and for the types of vehicle batteries sold by OBI.
Used vehicle batteries can alternatively be handed in for disposal free of charge at municipal recycling centers. However, there is no refund of the deposit.
Please note that the return of vehicle batteries by post is not permitted due to the dangerous goods regulations.
