Other Minoan ruins include those at phaistos and hagia triada in the south, malia in the northeast, and gournia and zakros in the east.
Crete also has many exciting natural sites to offer. Besides the mountains and the many beautiful beaches, there is the samaria gorge, which is part of the samaria national park and a very popular tourist destination south of chania. the gorge is 17 km long and 1 200 m deep.
