Every car driver is always on the lookout for options and tips, drive fuel efficient. Find a cheap gas station, buy a more fuel-efficient car, or simply drive less? These tips are not always the right ones and are rarely so easy to implement.
The possibility of fuel-saving driving is universally applicable. We show you how to do it.
Fuel-saving driving – tip 1
Accelerating at low revs is fuel-efficient and ensures low-pollution combustion of the engine. Turn them on after only approx. one car length from first to second gear, then accelerate hard, shift to the next higher gear at 2000 rpm at the latest. Or take your cue from the speedometer. At 25 to 30 km/h in the 3., at 35 to 45 km/h in the 4. And at 50 to 55 km/h in the 5. shift gear.

Despite persistent rumors, a car does not drive most fuel-efficiently in the medium speed range. The most sensible way to drive is at low revs and at a constant speed. A low speed saves fuel and protects engine and environment.
Fuel-saving driving – tip 3
Many engines shut off the fuel supply when the gear is engaged if you do not step on the gas pedal. Then the effect of the engine brake kicks in. Use this, for example, when you are approaching a red light or in other situations where you are likely to come to a stop – or generally have to slow down. According to the ADAC, this will save you up to 10 to 20 percent fuel.

With each starting and braking sprit is consumed. Therefore, drive with foresight and as evenly as possible. Keep enough distance (rule of thumb 3 seconds or more) from the car. Half speedometer). When approaching an obstacle, ease off the accelerator and use your vehicle’s existing momentum.

In cold condition the fuel consumption of the engine is particularly high. It takes a few kilometers for the engine to actually reach a suitable operating temperature. For short distances, it is advisable to leave the car parked.

Everybody knows it: in the car, there are boxes of drinks or small items that are not absolutely necessary. However, more power and thus fuel is needed for acceleration if there is more weight. Everything that has to be carried outside the vehicle, such as e.B. bicycles has an even less favorable effect. Clean out your car regularly.

Use energy consumers like the air conditioner wisely. If the alternator has to provide more power for battery or power consumption, then the rotational resistance increases and the engine has to apply more power. You consume more fuel. nevertheless, please adjust your lighting to the light and traffic conditions!
Fuel-saving driving – tip 9
Switch off your engine if you stand still for more than ten seconds. Do not press the accelerator pedal when starting and drive off immediately after starting the engine. It is forbidden to let the engine run warm, it harms the environment and does not save fuel. This is shown by a recent ADAC test: at an outside temperature of -10 °C, the engine oil has only reached a temperature of -7 °C after four minutes. Air comes out of the air outlet nozzles with approx. 13 °C. For this, however, ca. 0.15 l of gasoline burned.

drive with the prescribed tire pressure, or even a little more. Less pollutants, more safety when braking and of course less fuel consumption are the result. Rolling resistance is improved by low rolling resistance tires, noise pollution and fuel consumption are reduced. Just ask your garage about it.
