As his brother Georg Ratzinger told the Munich tabloid "tz" on Saturday (03.07.2010) said, the pope is quite interested in the major sporting event. It is not a question of favoring any country, he says. "But in sports, his heart beats a little for the homeland. He is already rooting for Germany and is happy when he is informed that they have won." According to Pope Benedict XVI. a soccer cup was also named. This was donated in 2005 by the Traunstein Studienseminar St. Michael, where Joseph Ratzinger once studied Latin. Since then, teams of altar boys from the places of the Bavarian pope’s childhood and youth have been competing for the trophy every year. In his autobiography, however, the head of the Catholic Church freely admitted that the two hours of daily sports in the boys’ seminary had once been "the greatest burden" and a "true torture" for him, since he was "quite untalented in sports.
